spinning in circles

by ck on September 25, 2009

When did you start spinning in circles without falling down?

And determine the highchair was an affront?

And that t-shirts without dogs would not do?

When did you decide that you could not leave the house without your necklace from Daddy?

And that Row-Row-Row Your Boat was the only song worth singing?

And that your trust in your sister was bigger than your fear of the ocean?

I was here with you
Every single day
I was with you and
I watched all of these things and yet
Somehow I still missed when
You grew out of a baby and
Into the little person who delighted in racing away.

Our family defies the laws of awesome.

Seriously? If your husband is going to leave comments, the least he can do is wait until the rest of us say something.

No matter what we say – nothing will compare to his one sentence.

The picture….is amazing – as are you and clearly, your family.

Well your husband took the words out of my mouth….kinda.

I too feel like I have been there but can’t remember just when her features changes. when the baby cheeks turned into big girl cheeks.

When her voice changed just a little. When she had to take showers by herself.

Time goes by in an instant……

This morning I was thinking, I need to have another baby because my baby is no longer one. And you wrote it so well.
That picture is beautiful.

You are lucky to have a husband that posts comments like that.

Happy Friday.

Casey September 25, 2009 at 11:47 am

What an adorable shot. I’m feeling the same things over here. Let’s feed them coffee and cigarettes to keep them small.

Mira September 25, 2009 at 12:08 pm

I realized yesterday I keep wishing they were older and I am probably needing to stop doing that! They do new things every day don’t they?

TheKitchenWitch September 25, 2009 at 12:20 pm

I love, love, love that snapshot. You manage to capture the essence of the moment there.

Your family rocks. It does.

Catching up on you thru Google Reader… (you’ve been Read-ed) and DAMMIT, CK. Tears. My A is just starting to grow out/into these things. Shit, shit, shit.

Mama foul-mouth today…

“Your trust in your sister was bigger than your fear of the ocean” Wow. Love that ONE is getting on TWO’s level… I need to remember to do that more often…

Aaaww. I hope my daughter and my soon-to-be daughter are as close. Very cool pic.

faemom September 29, 2009 at 12:59 am

They grow up so damn fast. I wish we could slow down time sometimes. Except during tantrums, then I want to speed it up.
